One type of portrait that I don’t shoot often, but always enjoy when I do, is a senior portrait.  I love the enthusiasm and energy that seniors always seem to bring to the session.  Unlike a portrait of a child where you have a very short window of opportunity, with seniors I have the time to try a lot of different things and usually get a lot of input and ideas from my subject.  Jessica is into architecture so we decided to do the shoot downtown starting at the Capitol.  I had just gotten situated for our first series of shots when a police man approached us and told me that I needed a permit to shoot on State grounds.  Oops!  I’ve shot there many times before, but always on the weekend when it’s virtually deserted and did not realize I wasn’t supposed to.  Thankfully, the officer was very nice about it and I did not get a ticket!
