I’m Patty, a wedding photographer based in Portugal. I specialize in candid, emotion-filled wedding photography and relaxed portraits, with a particular focus on destination weddings throughout Portugal.

My favorite photographs are the moments that happen when you aren't thinking about the camera. Tears and laughter, nerves and anticipation, silly expressions, quiet glances—the things that bring your wedding day back to life years later. Those are the photographs I’m always watching for and you can see some of my favorite candid moments here.

Portraits matter too, but they shouldn't take you away from your wedding for hours, and they definitely shouldn't look overly posed. My goal is to make people comfortable enough in front of my camera that their portraits feel relaxed and natural while still being beautifully composed. You should recognize yourselves in them—not just see two people who were told where to stand.

After more than 20 years as a professional photographer, I've learned that a wedding doesn't need to be manufactured for the camera to be beautiful. My job is to know when to step in and create something—and when to get out of the way and photograph the beautiful chaos happening all around me.

Planning a destination wedding in Portugal comes with plenty of questions. Here are answers to some of the ones couples ask me most often.

Do you travel throughout Portugal?
Absolutely. My husband and I live in the Viseu district of central Portugal, and I photograph weddings throughout the country. Whether you're getting married in Lisbon, Porto, the Douro Valley, the Algarve or somewhere well off the beaten path, tell me what you're planning and I'll work out the logistics with you.

We live outside Portugal. How does planning with you work?
Most of the planning can easily be done by email and video call, so you don't need to be in Portugal to book me or plan your photography. As the wedding gets closer, we'll go through your schedule, locations and the photographs that matter most to you so I know exactly what's happening on the day.

Do you speak Portuguese?
Sim, um pouco! My Portuguese is still a work in progress, but I usually speak enough to get by. Just as importantly, I've lived in Portugal long enough to understand how things work here and to navigate the cultural differences that can come with planning a wedding in another country.
